How to use

Purpose

Strip EXIF metadata — GPS coordinates, capture time, camera model, lens info, Adobe / Photoshop tags — from images before sharing publicly. Critical privacy step: photos posted to Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, dating apps often retain GPS coordinates accurate to 1-10 meters, exposing home / office addresses to anyone who downloads the photo. Local processing.

  4. Optional: preserve orientation tag so portrait / landscape stays correct

Why strip EXIF?
Most importantly: **GPS coordinates**. Phones embed location with 1-10m accuracy by default. Selfies posted to Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, dating apps reveal home address to anyone who downloads. Also: capture time (reveals routine), camera model (identity correlation), software tags.
Doesn't WeChat / Instagram strip EXIF automatically?
Variable. WeChat strips most EXIF on compressed send but **keeps EXIF on 'original size' send including GPS**. Other platforms (Twitter, Telegram, iMessage) vary. Safest: strip yourself before upload.
Does stripping reduce image quality?
Not at all — EXIF is metadata in the file header (a few KB). Stripping leaves pixel data 100% intact, file size slightly smaller.
Batch strip?
Yes — drop multiple files for bulk processing.
How do I know capture time after stripping?
Choose 'GPS only' mode to keep timestamp and camera info. Or note them before stripping. Filesystem 'modified' date approximates capture time.
