How to use

Purpose

Free passport / ID / visa photo maker with country-specific size presets — US passport (2×2 inch, 51×51mm), UK passport (35×45mm), Schengen visa, Canadian PR, Chinese 1-inch/2-inch, and many more. AI-powered background removal swaps the original backdrop for compliant solid colors (white, light blue, red, gray). Everything runs in your browser — your face photo never leaves your device, which is critical because passport photos contain identity-sensitive biometric data.

Steps

  1. Upload a front-facing, well-lit headshot (white wall or even lighting recommended)
  2. Pick the target size: US passport (2×2 inch, 600×600px at 300DPI), UK 35×45mm, Chinese 1-inch (25×35mm) etc.
  3. AI segments out the original background, including hair edges
  4. Pick the target background color (white for most passports, light blue, red, etc.)

Which country's passport size do I need?
US passport requires 2×2 inch (51×51mm) at 300 DPI, white background; UK 35×45mm; Canadian 50×70mm; Schengen 35×45mm. We include presets for 30+ countries — match the country requirement exactly.
Why white background for US passport?
US State Department requires plain white or off-white. Any patterns, shadows, or non-uniform background will be rejected. Our AI cleanly swaps to compliant white.
How accurate is the AI segmentation? Does it handle hair?
We use the @imgly/background-removal WASM model — hair edges come out clean in well-lit photos. Poor lighting or hair matching the background may need manual refinement (paintbrush tool included).
Can I make several sizes from one photo?
