FAQ
- Why does iPhone use HEIC?
- iOS 11+ saves photos as HEIC by default — ~50% smaller than JPEG at same quality, saving storage. Trade-off: Windows / Android older versions / many websites can't read it.
- Can I make iPhone shoot JPG directly?
- Yes — Settings → Camera → Formats → 'Most Compatible' switches to JPG for new photos. Existing HEIC photos still need conversion.
- Will HEIC → JPG be larger?
- Same quality JPEG is ~1.5-2× larger than HEIC. For smaller files, choose WebP or AVIF output.
- Batch convert?

- What about Live Photos?
- Live Photo = HEIC still + MOV video. This tool converts the still; the video file (.mov) stays separate (accessible in iOS Files app).
